Narrative
The Masque of the Red Death, layered linocut and monoprint and preparatory drawing.
Adrift
Self-written short story about the sole inhabitant of a small island, whose world is changed following the arrival of letters from a mysterious postbox. Loosely inspired by some personal feelings.
Contains five interior aquatint etching illustrations, linocut front and back covers, as well as an envelope style case with hand-printed stamps.
The Salmon of Llyn Llyw
A series of pictures illustrating a short section from the Welsh book of Arthurian legends, the Mabinogion, inspired by an embroidery of the same story by my grandmother.
The project was assembled into a small booklet containing five etchings, with additional linocut illustrations for the covers and additional internal embellishments.
I also briefly experimented with wood engraving as a possible solution, with some success.
Phillip Fishboy
A concept for a children's book character used as an experiment in paper-engineering. Simple fineliner and watercolour illustrations hand-cut and layered together.
